Potrero Hill Democratic Club was founded in 2007 (a new version of a club that ended in 2000), on the beliefs that government should be accountable to the needs of all people and that Democrats should have a role in shaping our neighborhood. We are committed to traditional Democratic party values of building a strong and diverse economy, honoring labor, providing human services, protecting the environment and working toward a world at peace. We’ll work to make our community and city livable, affordable, sustainable, and reflective of the rich diversity of its residents.
We will strengthen the political voice of Potrero Hill through encouraging active participation in the electoral process. We will register new voters and encourage all registered voters to exercise their franchise. We will conduct educational programs about candidates and issues facing the electorate. We will make tangible improvements in our community through service. We will organize and involve the residents of Potrero Hill in issues affecting our interests. We will review and vote to support or oppose measures that the Club believes to be of interest to our community. We will endorse propositions and candidates for office and actively work for those that the Club endorses. We will work for clean and fair government at all levels.
In-person meetings of the Potrero Hill Democratic Club are usually held the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30PM at the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 De Haro St; some meetings are held over Zoom. Various other Club-sponsored activities occur throughout the year, such as tabling at Sunday Streets and the Potrero Hill Festival, putting on our annual Members Party and “Shop Local” Silent Auction, precinct walking our slate card (“decided democratically, delivered voluntarily,” without hitting up endorsed candidates for money), and participating in coastal cleanups.
